Bilstein's 6112 shocks are the go-fast go-big upgrade over the 5100 series. With a much thicker body and 60mm piston, the damping ability of the 6112 exceeds normal 2 inch shocks. More damping surface from the 60mm piston provides more consistency in similar terrains vs the 5100, Less work required with the 2.6" 6112 results in less harshness and more comfort. Another big advantage of the 6112 shock are the various height choices to account for different weight loads or tire clearance requirements. With Bilstein's build quality and reliability, these shocks do not need to be serviced as soon as similar 2.5" shock offerings.

This kit uses the 6112 front shocks and springs as the baseline, with interchangeable rear shocks according to lengths required. Rear lift options at 2" or greater will require an extended length rear shock to accommodate.

Fully Assembled Option - Shock Surplus will fully assembled the front Bilstein 6112 struts, coil springs, and new top hats for easy installation. Lift heights are approximations and may not be exact for your specific setup.

Front Coil Spring Options

The standard springs that come included on the 47-310025 kit can achieve 2.5" of lift with factory weight, or additional light-load in the front (minimal aftermarket bumper, less than 150lb additional pounds). You can still run this kit with the heavier front weight, and the vehicle will ride nice, but you will not see the total 2.5" of lift, which may be a factor if you're trying to stuff as big of wheel/tires as possible without heavy trimming.

The heavy duty shock and spring option, 47-311039 is available for 4Runners that will see a heavier duty bumper, winch, and possibly other accessories that will weigh down the front end of the vehicle. This kit can also achieve 2.5" of lift with that additional weight.

Upper Control Arm Options

All available arms allow for more suspension articulation compared to stock arms on a lifted vehicle, and easier alignment, which is important when lifting the vehicle 3-3.5".

Rear Lift Options

The Bilstein 5100 shocks in this kit will work on all rear lift options below, as they are nearly identical in length to the suggested Old Man Emu 60080 shocks (recommended for these OME springs by OME). Lift heights are approximations, and unloaded vehicles may see up to 3" of lift, with a firm ride. These coils are intended to be loaded with gear, equipment.

Rear Shock Options

The 5100s are more than capable of handling increased load, dirt roads, and improved daily driver comfort. Upgrade to the 5160 reservoir shocks if you expect a little more spirited driving in the dirt, or plan on pushing your suspension to its max offroad.
